In the first phase of the Telakkaranta project, excavation and rock blasting were carried out to prepare the foundation for the European Chemicals Agency. Subsequently, during the second and third phases, foundations were excavated and blasted for residential buildings and a parking facility.

The excavation work was diverse and included urban blasting techniques, combining traditional blasting, diamond wire sawing of rock faces, hydraulic splitting, and grouting.

The project’s complexity was heightened by the need to perform deep excavations near historically protected brick buildings overseen by the Finnish Heritage Agency. Additional challenges arose from the site's proximity to the sea, with the excavated foundation lying approximately 9 meters below sea level.

A total of 46,000 m³ of rock was excavated, and 2,500 m² of rock face was cut using diamond wire sawing.
