Industry veteran Esa Eloranta starts as the new Chairman of Louhintahiekka as of 1 April 2025.
Louhintahiekka’s Board of Directors will have a new chairman starting 1 April 2025, as long-time construction industry professional, Esa Eloranta, takes over the role.
Esa Eloranta brings extensive experience in the construction sector and business development with a growth-driven approach. He founded his first construction company, Kouvolan AKV-rakennus Oy, in 1992. Following an acquisition in 1996, the company became part of Lemminkäinen’s subsidiary, Oka Oy. Oka Oy quickly grew into a significant nationwide construction company and was one of Lemminkäinen’s strongest subsidiaries in the 2000s. In 2009, he co-founded the construction company Jatke Oy with four other partners, serving as its CEO and Chairman of the Board until 2021. Eloranta remains actively involved in the construction industry through selected projects and board work.
“We are very pleased and honored to have Esa join our board. He has long-standing experience in leading construction companies successfully and fostering growth, which is valuable expertise for us at Louhintahiekka. From our very first meeting, it was clear that Esa is someone with whom it is easy to communicate and share ideas about Louhintahiekka’s current situation and future. We share a similar vision for managing and developing the company’s operations with the support of a committed team, and our discussions have been open and positive,” says Louhintahiekka CEO Aapo Lahtinen.
“At the suggestion of a mutual acquaintance, I met with Louhintahiekka’s current management—Aapo Lahtinen, Mikko Matero, and Juhana Vuojala—and was deeply impressed. They are young, intelligent, and highly dedicated entrepreneurs. Louhintahiekka has a strong strategy and clear goals, which they are steadily guiding the company toward. I was convinced by their financial and metrics-driven leadership, as well as their approach to engaging and motivating their employees. Genuine and close relationships with both clients and skilled personnel were also the cornerstones of the successful businesses I have led. I see a lot of my younger self in them, which strengthened my desire to support Louhintahiekka’s success story,” says Esa Eloranta.
“Louhintahiekka is a well-managed company with an ambitious growth strategy and a leadership team committed to doing things the right way. I bring to the company my experience in entrepreneurship, controlled business growth, and steering operations in a more commercial direction. It is essential to evaluate a company’s development and growth from an external perspective as well, and this is where effective board work plays a key role. I look forward to developing Louhintahiekka’s board operations together with Aapo, Mikko, and Juhana,” Eloranta adds.
Over its 50-year history, Louhintahiekka has grown from a single excavator to one of Finland’s leading infrastructure builders. Louhintahiekka in its present form was created in December 2023 when the company’s former owner sold it to the operating management. The company offers extensive infrastructure and concrete construction services as well as circular economy solutions, with special expertise in complex and technically demanding projects. Louhintahiekka employs 80 people and has an annual turnover of approximately €85 million. The company operates nationwide, and its headquarters is located in Helsinki.
