NCC - Fredriksberg

NCC constructed the Fredriksberg office complex in the Konepaja area of Vallila, Helsinki, which has been designated as a nationally significant industrial and cultural environment. Fredriksberg was designed with a minimal carbon footprint in both construction and operation, and the buildings were completed in accordance with the BREEAM environmental certification.

The complex was built in phases between 2016 and 2022. Louhintahiekka was responsible for the earthworks for buildings A, B, and C, which together had 20,000 m² of office space.

Our contract comprised earthworks (including the handling of contaminated soil), internal and external fills, rock blasting, shoring and grouting, piling, and the installation of sewers and pipelines.

The site presented challenging ground conditions, with a large amount of contaminated soil, waste, and old stone foundations. Water management played a significant role, as the groundwater level was considerably higher than the excavation level.
