In January 2021, a major street renovation began in Helsinki on Caloniuksenkatu, Kaarlenkatu and Helsinginkatu. The main contractor in the project is Mining Sand. The great street work began with small cobblestones when water pipes and sewers were first renovated in small construction sites. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2022.
Part of the water pipeline was built in the early 20th century, so in connection with the street renovation, the pipes under the street will be renewed. Cables and street structures will also be renewed. Water supply lines will be built at 1,600 meters and sewer pipes at 2,000 meters. In addition to excavation and backfilling work, the works require e.g. mining and blasting in a vibrant urban environment.

The location of the new recycling plant in the circular economy concentration formed by Vantaa Energy and Remeo Oy along the highways is excellent for thinking in accordance with the circular economy. Construction of the plant began in May 2020 with earthworks and the plant will start up in late 2021.
Louhintahiekka was also responsible for the earthworks and foundations of the Vantaa Energy's Waste-to-energy plant extension next to the Remeo waste treatment plant.
